The Les Cèdres Intermodal Complex will be used for transferring, handling and warehousing goods. It will include an intermodal terminal for handling containers and distribution centres; it will be operated by CP.

The construction of this new complex is essential to CP operations because of the increase in trade with Asia and the fact that existing CP facilities are operating at capacity.

The Les Cèdres Intermodal Complex will be built on 300 hectares of land located in the municipality of Les Cèdres (Vaudreuil-Soulanges RCM), mainly on the former site of Soulanges Industries, an industrial site recently acquired by CP.

Vehicle traffic generated by the complex will be channelled toward the highway via a direct, dedicated access. Measures will be undertaken to isolate the activities of the complex from neighbouring land and dwellings.

CP has been holding consultations for over a year in an effort to ensure the harmonious integration of the complex in the local community. A number of commitments have been made in this respect.

The analysis process for the project will involve several levels of government and will last from 18 to 24 months. Construction could begin in 2008-2009, and operations could start in 2010-2011.
